If you need to be seen urgently please make this clear to the receptionist. If there are no available appointment slots we may offer you a telephone appoointment.

This appointment may not be with the doctor you normally see.

Call 01463 710222 from 8:30am Monday to Friday

Telephone Advice

Telephone appointment slots are available daily to discuss test results or if you require advice from a doctor. Telephone appointment slots are also available with the practice nurses.

Home visits

If you think a home visit might be required, please place a request before 10am whenever possible as this allows the doctors to prioritise patients accordingly. Late requests often lead to disruption of the appointment system and excessive waiting times for others.

Click here for more information about when a home visit might be appropriate.

If you need help when we are closed

The practice closes at 6pm. Between 6pm and 8am Monday to Thursday and after 6pm Friday until 8am Monday morning please phone 111 (NHS24, Freephone).

The staff at NHS24 will ask you for information about your health and condition and will advise on the most appropriate course of action. This may include offering advice only or advising you to attend a pharmacy. If they feel you need to be seen they will pass your case to Highland Hub who will be in touch to arrange for you to attend the Urgent Care Centre in Inverness or in some cases provide a home visit.
In an emergency please phone 999 and speak to the ambulance service.

Deaf patients can text NHS24 on 18001 08454 24 24 24.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Southside Road Surgery is closed at weekends.

Teaching and Training

Occasionally GP's need to make video recordings of some of their surgeries in order that their consultation skills can be assessed. No consultation will be recorded without your approval in writing.

We may also have junior doctors on a four month attachment along with students from medical school training at the surgery. All of these individuals are fully supervised and you will always be asked prior to your consultation if you are happy for them to sit in on your appointment.

Near Me Video Consultations

Where appropriate, you can attend your consultation online via a video call.  Video calling is as convenient as a phone call, with the added value of face-to-face communication.  It can save you time and money and brings your care closer to home.  Calls must be pre-arranged following a 'phone consultation with a GP/Nurse/Nurse Practitioner/Pharmacist/Physiotherapist.
